On January 5, 2024, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) issued an official statement regarding the Spanish Anti-Doping Commission, stating that “the fact that there are positive cases that have not been handled in a timely manner, despite WADA’s monitoring, is unacceptable.”
Our colleague Alberto Yelmo, Senior Associate at EDBA, is an undeniable reference in the world of sports law, especially in anti-doping. Currently, along with the EDBA sports law department, he is successfully involved in this process, defending several of the parties harmed by the events under investigation: “This has previously occurred in other countries and the events have been declared by the World Anti-Doping Agency to be of extreme seriousness.”
For its part, the Higher Sports Council (CSD) has also officially reported “that on January 2 it had forwarded to the State Prosecutor’s Office the results of an investigation carried out within the Ministry of Education, Professional Training and Sports following a complaint about alleged irregularities in the use of public funds and in the control and sanctioning of doping by the Spanish Commission for the Fight Against Doping in Sport.”
Finnish public television channel YLE has shown interest in the situation in Spain and our legal work. The full clip of his participation can be viewed here.
